SAT - Scholastic Aptitude Test

he SAT is a standardized, computer-based exam designed to assess high school students' readiness for college and university study.

It is divided into two primary sections: Reading and Writing, and Math. The entire test is delivered through a dedicated application on a laptop or tablet, using an adaptive format where your performance on the first part of a section determines the difficulty level of the second part.

The Reading and Writing section evaluates your ability to comprehend short texts, analyze rhetorical techniques, use standard grammar, and edit sentences effectively. Each passage is concise and corresponds to a single question.

The Math section measures problem-solving and analytical reasoning across algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and advanced functions. You have access to a built-in graphing calculator for the entirety of the math portions, and questions include both multiple-choice choices and open-ended, free-response answers.

There is no penalty for incorrect answers, so test-takers are encouraged to attempt every question. Universities evaluate these results alongside high school grades, essays, and extracurricular activities during the admissions process.
